Hi there! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over six years of experience supporting children, teens, and their families. My approach is warm, casual, and grounded in creating a safe space where you can feel heard and understood. I work with both children and adults navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma-related stress. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals and families who have experienced complex trauma, including sexual abuse. My work is rooted in your strengths and values, because I believe healing starts with honoring who you are. If you're going through a difficult time and think we might be a good match, I’d love to connect.
In a first session with me, we will usually start by getting to know each other. We will discover what motivates you and what your general goals are (what brought you here). We will then create a plan together and discuss next steps. I will also be available to answer any questions you may have.
Having worked with children, teens, and adults, I have developed a very flexible and relaxed approach to therapy. I like to be direct and honest, while also empathetic and understanding. I understand that we all start somewhere and I believe it is important to meet people where they are at. I have experience helping individuals through many types of traumatic experiences and enjoy witnessing the change and confidence recovery can bring.
I’m especially passionate about working with teens and with adults who feel uncertain about their path due to past experiences. Together, we’ll explore how those experiences have shaped you, identify your strengths, and develop practical tools to help you move forward with confidence and clarity.
Ashlyn Ciszar offers therapy covered by Managed Health Services (Managed Medicaid), Medicaid - Managed Health Services and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Indiana.
I have experience utilizing ACT therapy with clients who have depression, anxiety, and issues with anger. I find this method to be helpful specifically with helping you realize what really matters to you and guide you to make a change.
Primarily, I use CBT with adults and children focusing on managing emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. CBT is a great tool to help you develop skills to change unhelpful thinking patterns.
Trauma-Focused CBT is commonly used to help children and adolescents process difficult and traumatizing experiences while also developing skills needed to manage trauma related symptoms such as emotional outbursts, anxiety, and trauma reminders.
Psychoeducation is used to help you understand you or your loved one's diagnosis and behaviors. A mental health diagnosis can be confusing and intimidating. I will use psychoeducation with most of my clients to help you understand yourself better and how this impacts your day-to-day life.
