Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Connecticut. I help insightful, motivated, and deep feeling/sensitive adults break free from anxiety so that they can be their authentic selves and build lives they love. I also support those struggling with depression, self-esteem, perfectionism, life stress/transitions, trauma, phobias, grief, and relationships as these concerns are often overlapping. Are you ready to slow the chaos, feel more connected to yourself and others, and rebuild your sense of peace and control?
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. It is helpful for me to understand how you got to where you are today and why you are seeking counseling right now. It is also helpful for me to know of any prior therapy experience/s in order to understand what is meaningful for you. If you and I feel that we are a good fit for your treatment needs and goals, we will then create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I recognize that therapy is a commitment of time and effort, an investment in your mental health, and can be a vulnerable process. However, my therapy "superpower" is people immediately feeling comfortable opening up to me! It is also a strength of mine to collaborate with clients to identify the root cause/s of their challenges. I then utilize tailored techniques to target these areas so that my clients see progress in their mental health, develop coping tools, establish healthier relationships, and experience a greater sense of self-esteem.
The stress and overwhelm is overpowering and you find yourself looped into a pattern of self-doubt and overthinking. You're feeling stuck in your life, not where you want to be within your career and relationships. You’re tired of feeling like you aren’t good enough despite trying to be perfect and please everyone around you. There’s also this underlying anxiety with a sense of dread that the other shoe is going to drop. The past may be triggering you, preventing you from moving forward. I love supporting insightful, intelligent individuals who are motivated and committed to sharing their life stories in order to be seen, heard and understood! However, I recognize and empathize that if you find yourself here, you are likely not feeling like yourself lately and that something is burdening you enough to seek professional help. Together with my integrative and holistic approach, we can figure out what works best for you to help achieve your therapy goals.
I incorporate IFS "parts work" into my practice during which you will discover all of the various parts of your self in order to uncover and better connect with your Self. True Core Self is the calm, connected, curious, creative, confident, courageous, and compassionate part of yourself (Think C's!). This modality also helps with managing inner conflicts and life transitions, making big life decisions, and preparation/resourcing for trauma-based work/EMDR Therapy.
Utilizing a non-judgmental stance, I will help you to become more aware of and curious about your inner workings. As a result, you will discover how old patterns in thinking, emotions, behaviors, and body sensations may be holding you back. We will reframe your negative automatic thoughts/core beliefs by applying adaptive thinking strategies.
I utilize a strengths-based and person-centered approach in my practice and am highly attuned to my clients and their needs. You will feel seen, heard, and understood while you share and process your life stories! I strive to provide a safe, collaborative environment for processing and coping with life challenges/transitions. At times we will be "processing the process" in how you relate in session and interpersonally with others in your life. We will work to improve your communication and connections within your relationships.
I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy in order to reprocess upsetting, traumatic memories, thoughts, emotions, and body sensations. You will receive support on how to cope with present day triggers as well as a framework for approaching these in the future. This modality will help you feel more balanced, less distressed, and connected to your adaptive healing capabilities and true core self. I truly believe in the importance of the mind-body connection!
I integrate Brainspotting into my therapy practice as this is a relational, open, creative, integrative, mindfulness-based modality that also connects the brain and body. It is a very intuitive modality and can be used for all types of issues, even those you may struggle to put words to. During this treatment, you will notice where you are activated in your body and organically process through your chosen issue.
