My name is Lee Maxwell; a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Maximum Wellness, LLC. I have lived and worked in Metro Atlanta for over two decades. I grew up in rural Georgia; born to older parents who instilled in me the value of connection with others and treating others as I would want to be treated. I gained my passion for working in Geriatrics from my mother, who, on most Sundays throughout my childhood, would take me along with her to visit a local nursing home. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Georgia Southern University; followed by a graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Savannah State University. I have been working in the field of mental health care for 25 years; 16 of which have been dedicated to providing psychotherapy services; primarily to a geriatric population. After working in senior living communities throughout the pandemic, I decided to afford myself the opportunity to work with a younger population; which I found to be refreshing and resulted in opening up my private practice to include services for all adults over the age of 18yo. I have been professionally licensed in the state of Georgia since 2009.

Being rooted in traditionalism, with exposure to the modern, has allowed me to be open to learning about life in new, non-traditional ways. My open mindedness later in life helped me to embrace the process of learning and to be more comfortable with the journey of shifts and transitions that we all go through in life. Through this process I have sought and embraced new paths, which allows me to connect with both young people and adults. My name is Bill Massey and I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in west central Georgia and east central Alabama. I graduated from the University of Georgia's MSW program in 1993 and became an LCSW in 1996. I have worked in home health and hospice for most of my career with a strong emphasis on geriatrics and dementia care. I have experience in inpatient psychiatric settings and residential services as well. I am looking to fill a niche that I have seen wanting attention for some time. For many years I have seen elders and their families in their homes but had to refer out any counseling other than crisis intervention to outpatient therapists. The problem is that I have been referring homebound people for outpatient therapy. This is not effective for many reasons. With the help of Grow Therapy, I intend to offer my services of counseling and case management to people in the comfort of their own homes. I will become a mobile mental health provider to serve a population that has gone largely underserved for all too long. My coverage area for in-home therapy will be Lee, Russell, and Chambers counties in Alabama as well as Muscogee, Chattahoochee, and Harris Counties in Georgia. I am opening up limited appointment times for virtual counseling as of mid May 2024.

Are you stressed and overwhelmed by your health, your day-to-day life, or your relationships? As a Psychologist with more than 28 years of experience, as well as being a two-time breast cancer survivor and a caretaker for my elderly parents, I can help you to navigate health issues and life stresses more effectively. Life can be difficult for each of us at some point in time, in ways unique to our own circumstances. My goal is to help people through the tough chapters so that they move into better chapters with additional tools to handle challenges and stresses. I don't view people as being broken or needing fixing. We all need someone with whom to sort things through at times, someone who isn't part of our day-to-day mix. In therapy, clients develop more effective expectations by redefining their stresses and challenges, reduce emotional upset and distress by looking at their issues from a new angle, and feel empowered by trying new approaches to effective problem-solving. I would be pleased to walk this journey with you, to reduce stress and find a more satisfying approach to life. Available appointments are those set aside specifically for intakes. I see clients through Grow Therapy on Monday and Tuesday. I cannot do letters, FMLA forms or provide disability opinions for clients who have not already been involved in therapy with me for at least several months. While I really enjoy working with individuals aged 65 and older, due to Medicare regulations, I cannot see traditional Medicare clients for self-pay. I can see those seniors with Medicare Replacement plans which are accepted by Grow Therapy. If you have any questions about services or additional availability, you may contact me at (404) 889-6283.

Whether you’re navigating personal challenges, family conflict, or mandated treatment, we offer a professional, supportive space where growth and healing can take place. To make therapy more accessible, we’ve partnered with Grow Therapy, a trusted platform that manages insurance billing and referrals. While The Listening Room LLC is independently owned and operated, Grow Therapy helps streamline access to care by handling the administrative side—so we can focus on delivering quality mental health services and listen to you.

Motto: "Its okay to not be okay." "Everyone needs a listening ear." We all need help from time to time. I envision my practice as a mental health community where all people are capable of change. Far too often, people are seen as deficient and lacking what it takes to be healthy and happy. I understand that everyone is unique and different and that people are shaped by their experiences and circumstances. You are the expert in your life and I am just here to assist you. You have the answers within you. Sometimes we just need a little help to eliminate negative thoughts and destructive behavior that can become an obstacle in our lives. My expertise areas include working with individuals with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, infertility/fertility issues, and POC (people of color).

My name is Tish and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia. I want to first thank you for taking this step in your journey to wellness. Seeking help though therapy is one of the bravest acts of courage you will experience. Many times as we move through life we may feel isolated and alone. You are not alone. I would love to walk the journey with you. Life is too heavy for you to carry and sort through all its challenges on your own. My goal is to encourage and empower my clients to be the best version of themselves.

Have you noticed that your child is acting differently– not as interested in school work, arguing more, changed her habits or friends, lost interest in hobbies, is more withdrawn? Have you tried to cheer your child up, cajoled her, or maybe you’ve taken away privileges, like the phone or computer time in an effort to correct behavior but nothing seems to work? If you’ve come to the end of your rope and want solutions, I can help. As a parent of two boys I have walked the winding, rocky, breathtaking path of parenthood. As a therapist, I have worked with a broad range of children, adolescents, and their parents to not only get through rough spots or trauma but to have it be the foundation of a stronger, more connected family relationship. Because this platform is based in providing telehealth virtually, and not in person, I have found it best to serve clients that are 10 years old (3rd grade) and older.

Hello, I'm Dr. Ellinor Burke and I'm a psychologist licensed in the state of Georgia. I've been in practice for more than 20 years and I've struggled with some of the same issues many of you do. I have developed effective treatments for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder because I have dealt with this disorder myself. If you're looking for an effective treatment I have one. Many of us are worriers and have anxiety related to this. Anxiety can have a draining effect on your life but it is treatable. .I use cognitive and behavioral therapy combined with supportive therapy to help you get to that positive place in your life. If you're dealing with depression I'm also here to help by looking at how your thoughts feelings and behaviors influence each other and how we can work together to deal with these issues. I see patients with varying issues and from many age groups. All in all a diverse population. I was a school psychologist for more than ten years and I do educational assessments as well as therapy for adolescents. I find teenagers are some of the most challenging and rewarding to work with. My work is very emotionally rewarding which is why I've been in practice for so many years. I'm now considering expanding my practice to a hybrid practice which will include seeing clients both remotely and in my office. Therapy begins with me getting to know you and for you to feel comfortable with me. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment because therapy works when we have a positive connection which I hope we will have.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take Kaiser Georgia - Medicare?

Yes! If you use Kaiser Georgia - Medicare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Kaiser Georgia - Medicare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
